To: RAFstock This video is the correct approach to Indian Creek. Aircraft correctly landing upstream after turning the middlefork corner are in a blind radio spot just below the mouth of Indian creek so if you DO land downstream be sure to transmit midfield. Departing upstream from Indian will put you in a rising terrain environment and also put you on a collision course with aircraft on takeoff from Pistol Creek airstrip just up river from Indian.

Right, no big deal …
Right, no big deal – unless your engine fails on short final – and you are configured to be low and slow for a dirt strip & facing a mountain at the other end of the runway. That happened to me in August 1986 at Indian Creek when a fuel filter burst and clogged my fuel line. My sons and I walked away unhurt from a destroyed C210 airplane – because I was on a straight in approach – clipped the tops of the trees and hit a few feet short of the strip. Survival ?? if I had approached your end.

Land upstream–Takeoff downstream.
I’ve never seen anyone land downwtream at Indian, although no big deal–it is 4000′ long!

I flew into this …
I flew into this airstrip a few years ago. It was considered a one-way strip. You normally would take-off from the end that you landed on, instead of landing from the other direction where you have a much safer and more open approach. I light winds, I wonder why you did that?
