Copper State Fly-In; 2009

October 25, 2009

Today a friend of mine John Feck came out to 0AZ5 to fly out with me to the CopperState Fly-In located at KCZG in Casa Grande, Az.

At 0830 hours we departed my home (0AZ5) a flew towards Buckeye and around the White Tanks and South Mountain to avoid “bravo” airspace and then headed toward I-10.

Just west of Firebird Lake we intercepted I-10 and headed southeast to the transition point for entry to the airshow.

We circled the transition point twice before CopperState approach cleared us to KCZG for left traffic runway 5.

John and I took in the sites at the event checking out hundreds of aircraft, the vendors and of course the food. John took several photos and I hope to have those posted here soon.

At 1500 hours we departed and took the southwest route back home, into Buckeye and then north.

Does anyone know what is Part 141 curriculum/syllabus is ? I can’t loacte this info in FAA website?

I have been trying to find the what the Part 141 curriculum looks like for the flight training. Is it something hidden from prospective students?

Each school has its own specially approved curriculum. The FAA just provides the guidelines for what must be included. It’s basically the same as the Part 61 requirements, except that there is more rigorous record keeping, there are a series of intermediate "phase checks" , and there is a chief instructor and director of operations who meet specific minimum experience requirements. The school must also have been in operation for at least 5 years to receive Part 141 authorization.

This is what "government approved" flight schools are. It doesn’t mean that they give more, better, or different training. It is simply a bit more structured. The big difference is that students at Part 141 schools can apply for student career development loans. The catch is that you must do ALL of your training under Part 141.

The Part 141 Regulations are here: http://www.gofir.com/fars/part141/frame.htm

Consult a flight school for their specific curriculum. Most are pretty similar.
