Flagstaff House Museum Of Tea Ware, It?S All About Tea Ware
February 17, 2010
The most ancient colonial era styled complex that still survives in Hong Kong is the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware. The complex for an extended period of time was used as the dwelling place of the Commander of the British Armed forces that resided in Hong Kong. In earlier times Flagstaff House was named Headquarter House previous to 1932. The architect who designed the complex at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware is a highly argued topic. Most the experts believe either Murdoch Bruce or Lieutenant Bernard Collinson were responsible for the architectural work of the complex. The structure comprises of a Greek revival style. The creation of the complex was finished in 1846. The first person to live at the Flagstaff House was Major General George Charles D’Aguilar. The Flagstaff House was converted into the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware in 1984. This became a branch of the Hong Kong Museum of Art. The museum examines, accumulates and showcases tea ware. The world’s most ancient teapot that exists as of now can be found at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware. A new section was added to the museum in the year 1995 and is called the K.S. Lo Gallery. Named in honour of a man who donated his collection in 1970.This collection is at present the most prominent collection that can be found at the Flagstaff House Museum of Tea Ware.A stay at a Kowloon hotel while in the area would be recommended. A good Hong Kong hotel to stay would be the Eaton Hotel Hong Kong.

Arizona’s largest zoo is the Phoenix Zoo having a 4-acre African veldt and the Forest of Uco. It is the rain-forest that exhibits the very rare spectacled Bear. There are many small animals for the kids.
The Spanish were the first ones here (after the natives that is!) and started spreading Christianity among the Indians. After the Spanish, Kino’s death there was a War between the US Forces and Mexican Forces which ended in 1848 and the area divided.
Many Forts were erected by different people seeking wealth here, in order to defend against attacks by fierce Indians.
Many minerals like Silver, Gold, Copper and other minerals were found in the initial development of Arizona. All this helped Arizona develop at a fast rate.
Majority of people who bought farmlands got economically better by keeping cattle and farming.
Law & Order did not catch up quickly at the same pace. Many fights used to take place between the cattle grazers & sheep grazers for acquiring land for grazing. Last, but not the least a Marshal was assigned the job to stop these fights.
In 1912, Arizona became the 48th State of USA and the more development began.
There are many Historic Sites in Arizona for tourists.
Fort Verde Historic State Park is where the base of Captain Cook’s forces was used to fight the Apaches. The old quarters of soldiers are still there. Exploits of frontline soldiering are exhibited at the old Fort’s Museum.
The old home of James Douglas, Jerome State Historical Park used to be a house of all Copper Miners before the Great Depression and was closed thereafter. In it you can see the ‘Douglas’ Family’s aristocratic style of living. It is in the Town of Jerome off the State Route 89A.
Built in 1904, Riordan Historic Park, tells about Arizona’s Timber Merchants, Timothy & Michael Riordan. They were the leading logging experts in 1900. A look at the wooden furniture will tell you about the richness of their exterior craftsmanship. It is located in the heart of Flagstaff.
Located near the Community of Tubac is the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park that served as a Spanish defense against the Apache Indians. It was built as a Fort in 1752. It has a Picnic area, an 1885 School House and a visitor Center exhibiting the glorious Tubac Past.
Having a prison life of 33 years stands Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. Seeing it you will start believing that the West was really wild. The Prison cells, the Guard Tower and its Gate are still there. Very near to it there is South West’s richest historical site, The Yuma States Historical Park.
A giant Green House called Biosphere 2 was made in 1991. It is an airtight, glass container in which eight people could live on their own was experimented. It is now a tourist destination.
Grand Canyon is a place which every visitor to Arizona must see.
This valley is 277 miles in length and one mile in depth. Mostly visitors choose the South Rim to explore this Natural World Wonder.
Grand Canyon Railway is a spectacular way of seeing the Grand Canyon while traveling by train and not worrying about parking. This 1920-vintage Coach joins Williams with the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Best 2009 USA High School Track & Field Performances Feature 10 New Records – Part 1
February 17, 2010
Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley
Ten new records were set this season when the automatic timers finally stopped and the best 2009 USA high school track and field competitive performances were in the books.
The only double record-setter was not an individual, but the Track East Carolina relay team made up of New Bern High School sprinters from Raleigh (NC). Their 3:19.58 effort in the 1,600 sprint medley relay swept away the old mark of 3:21.1 with Fuquawn Greene’s 21.5 and Miles Sparks’ 21.8 in the 200, Andrew Hendrix’s 46.6 in the 400 and brother Anthony Hendrix’s 1:49.7 in the 800.
Track East Carolina also set the 800 sprint medley relay record with a 1:28.20 clocking that erased the old mark of 1:28.43. The absolute dominance of the Track East Carolina team was shown as they also ran the nation’s fastest times in the 4×200 relay and the 4×400 relay.
Albemarle High School’s 4×800 relay team also got into the act by setting a new standard of 7:30.67, wiping out the old mark of 7:32.89. Albemarle’s 800 runners were fast and deep—Garrett Bradley went 1:55.43, Zach Vrhovac 1:50.57, Luke Noble 1:55.34 and Anthony Kostelac 1:49.33.
The other 7 new USA high school records were set by Reggie Wyatt in the 300 hurdles (35.02), Marquise Goodwin in the long jump (26-10), Mason Finley in the discus (236-06), Curtis Beach in the decathlon (7,466), Shelby Greany in the 2,000 steeplechase (6:33.7), Toni Young in the high jump (6-04), and Anna Jelmini in the discus (190-03).
Last year the two dominant athletes were German Fernandez and Jordan Hasay. Fernandez set new records in the 3,000 and 3,200 and led all comers in the 1,500, 1,600 and mile. Hasay set a new record in the 1,500 and led all comers in the 3,000, 3,200 and 2 mile.
This year college recruiters saw more quality athletes emerge. Among of the boys were Andrew Springer who led everyone in the 1,500, 1,600 and mile; Trevor Dunbar who was first in the 3,000 and 2 mile; Lucas Verzbickas, a freshman who led the 3,200 and 2 mile; and Marquise Goodwin in the long jump.
Among the girls were Chelsey Sveinsson, a sophomore who led the nation in the 3,000 and 2 mile; Kori Carter who swept the 100 and 300 hurdles; and Ciarra Brewer, a sophomore in the triple jump.
Two of last year’s outstanding graduates—German Fernandez and Christine Babcock—continued to perform at a national caliber level as college freshmen. Fernandez went to Oklahoma State and promptly became the NCAA Division 1 champion in the 1,500, running 3:39.00 compared to his high school best of 3:44.8.
Babcock went to the University of Washington and, combined with incoming freshman and Canadian junior national cross-country champion Kendra Schaaf, led the Huskies to their first ever NCAA Division 1 Cross-Country Championship. Babcock finished 5th in 20:02 in team competition at the 2008 NCAA Championship meet and Schaaf finished 9th.
Babcock ran 4:33.82 last year to set the new national high school record for the 1600-meter run and clocked 4:35.41 in the mile, the 2nd best high school time ever (the national record is 4:35.24).
