Emergency Landing [ATC]

January 20, 2012


On Sunday, July 18th, I was flying a Cessna 172 from Midland, TX to Baytown, TX doing a routine pipeline patrol. Upon entering Houston Intercontinental’s (KIAH) Class Bravo Airspace, I began to experience a very rough engine plus a rapid oil leak. The flight ended in an off-airport landing. Myself and the airplane sustained absolutely no damage on landing.

    This video is truely inspiring.? How calm you stayed in such a dire situtation. That’s the worst I can think of happening: losing the one engine I got!!! Good work, dude.

    holy crap dude thats so legit. i was a controller at hobby for 3 years… we loved the pipelines. always in? the way, but always able to do anything you asked. youre such a baller

    Talk about remaining calm. You talked to the controller? as if nothing is wrong. Wow. Just out of curiousity, are you a PP, CP, or ATP?
